Voula modular offices

This scheme in the Southern Athens suburb of Voula, envisages a mixed use office building, comprising 56 sq m square modular office units for a total accommodation of 1300 sq m.

With inspiration from the Scandinavian idea of being able to look outside and see a tree - from wherever you are inside the building - the units are arranged in a stacked pattern. The placement of external roof gardens/balconies allows a direct connection with the interior spaces.

The jenga arrangement of the units also creates public foot passageways through the building, allowing it to integrate more with the site and lessen the impression of bulk.

Keeping the individual units of the same size, on an equal grid footprint, allows the building to be flexible over its lifetime. Units can be joined together easily to accommodate different occupancy types, enhancing its sustainable credentials.
